Brows by The Ziba Beauty and Yours Truly.

Hey there! It’s been a minute since I’ve posted beauty stuff, but I’m back! So excited for this collab with The Ziba Beauty! My eyebrows have always been there, but not as full as I’d like them to be. I never really paid much attention in high school or even in my 20’s to my brows, but now that I’ve found this 4 piece brow set by The Ziba Beauty, I can’t quit the brow routine! Like I wake up excited to do my brows everyday.

The Ziba Beauty brow crayon I used is called “light”. It’s a dirty blonde color and perfect to build on if you want to go a little darker. The Conceal crayon is just that, an easy on concealer to just even out color on the brow bone and lid. The Hi-Lite Pearl is my FAVE, with it’s shimmery white hue to make more than the brow bone pop. Try the Hi-Lite pearl crayon in the corner of your eyes to make them pop, or the Cupid’s bow (upper lip line) to give the effect of fuller lips. Last but not least is the Finish Wax crayon and it’s so easy to keep hairs in their place.

If you are in SoCal, check out one of The Ziba Beauty locations near you for a full service salon for the Brows.

Below is the Brow tutorial I did:

Trolls Tea Party at The Langham Pasadena

We kicked off our summer staycation with a Trolls themed tea party at The Langham Pasadena. Any tea party that both entertains kids, serves cookies, tea sandwiches, tuna cones, and glasses of rosé to the parents, is a tea party to share! It was so memorable that I think I’ll make attending tea parties a tradition in our family. Check out the video to see little Livvy dance with Poppy, and Oggy so happy to celebrate his half birthday that he was gettin’ down to the beats! If you know of any tea parties in the L.A. area that are worth checking out, or want to share your tea party stories…leave me a comment and share away!! xx, Iris

Mom-Mosa’s on Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, or any day!

    Entertaining made simple.
The juice flavors for the “Mom-Mosa’s”
Just a swingin’…loving what we’ve done to the backyard! SO Girly!
These two make motherhood a dream.
Kate, Ruth Anne, Mom, and …ME eating Coco & Jules gluten free cookies….no words …so good!
    Mother’s Day complete
    1 Mom-Mosa, 2 Mom-Mosa….

Entertaining is part of my nature. Being the hostess with the “mostest” has always appealed to me. Welcoming friends and family in to your home, your sanctuary, your oasis, in hopes that it fills their bellies and their cup, ends up filling my cup.

Parties and get together’s don’t have to be extravagant or expensive, but a fun, interactive focal point adds a extra element to any soirée. After searching for some fun yet simple table ideas, I came across a mimosa bar that seemed pretty easy to create, and added that frou-frou feel for a beautiful backyard brunch.

All I needed to make this bar the focal point were simple juice name tags, a “Mom-Mosa” name tag for the bucket, small bottles to hold the juice, and some pretty floral stickers . The glass bottles are key to holding the juices, so that you have those pops of color on the table. Joann’s fabric store had everything I needed and all under $20! It didn’t take much to make a pretty drink area, and I’m loving how it turned out!

Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that make you happy, and I’m pretty sure that “Mom-Mosa’s” make everyone happy. Try this Mimosa Bar at your next party and keep it simple yet creative.

Hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Memorial Day!

    xx,

    Iris 🙂

    The Royal Tips & Tricks

One year ago today… I woke up at 4am on vacation, crawled into my mother in law’s giant cozy bed, while nursing and snuggling with a 6 month old baby Livvy to watch The Royal Wedding.

As a fan of Meghan Markle from her blog, The Tig, and loving the show Suits, mainly to see what her next look would be, I couldn’t wait to see what she would look like when we all caught that first glimpse of her as a bride.

What dress would she wear? A giant ball gown with lots of tulle and sparkles? Something more ethereal like a beaded cap sleeve old Hollywood style? I was sure her hair would be down and flowing or at least half up. What about her makeup?  Would we see the “TA-DA” she describes as the wow factor? I was completely off…jaw dropped.

When I saw her in the car with her veil slightly covering her face, while waving to the crowds, I was giddy like a school girl.  Her gown top…so modest, her hair…an up-do, and the most beautiful, natural makeup I had ever seen!

All I could think, was, “Who did her makeup?!”  She was the most beautiful bride.  Seeing her face, not covered with caked on makeup was a breath of fresh air. Meghan’s makeup was so natural, just the way our moms taught us when we first started wearing makeup, just enough to enhance your natural beauty.

Freckles and all, the world could see what she wanted us to see, her.  Meghan told her dear friend, and makeup artist, Daniel Martin, she wanted to feel like herself.  Thank you, Meghan for showing your true colors.

It was such a pleasure meeting Daniel at the Dior Backstage meet and greet last Friday.  He has a gentle spirit, a kind demeanor, and when I sat down in his makeup chair to have my princess moment and ask him any beauty question I wanted, he gave some great tips and tricks.

Daniel says 3 items to always have handy in your purse are:

1.) Your favorite “no brainer” lipstick.  This would be color that makes you feel the most “you”.  Mine is Mary Kay’s Pink Parfait Nourishine lip gloss.

2.) Mascara, because it really opens up the face. Currently loving Mary Kay’s Ultimate mascara in black.

3.) Concealer because it can be used as foundation in a pinch. Mary Kay’s perfecting concealer in light ivory is amazing and Mary Kay’s cc cream in light to medium in spf 15 is my everyday go to.

Last but not least, I walked away with the best tip and trick from Daniel… I asked him what to do when you moisturize and then put on foundation only to see dryness instead of a dewy complexion?

“Mix your serums or moisturizers on your hand with the foundation or cc, bb creams or tinted moisturizers, and then pat into skin with fingers.” Daniel said.

Problems solved.  I went home and tried this for Mother’s Day weekend and I could see the difference. My dull dry skin came to life, radiating the same dewy complexion we saw on Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex on her Royal Wedding Day.

Try this trick next time you feel the need for a youthful, dewy complexion.

    Never Have I Ever…

    Livvy and I rockin’ sneakers
Oh this ole’ thing… with sneakers?
    Chic vibes… with sneakers

    Never Have I Ever…

Have you ever played that game?  Never have I ever… been skydiving, gone skinny dipping, kissed a celebrity…. 🤫

Never have I ever worn chunky, workout sneakers with a very pretty girly dress.  The thought of sneakers used to make me cringe.  I have always loved heels, mainly because I like my legs to look a little longer. The cool thing about these sneakers is platform on the heel that gives you a little extra height.

Lately, I’ve seen sneakers being worn with everything from flowy, floral maxi dresses, to power suits, and I’m loving the look!
Before I became a mom, you would have never caught me in trainers (aka sneakers) unless I was with an actual trainer…especially not in jeans! Now that I’ve found a look that goes with it all… you might just find me in these adidas falcons all day everyday!

I dare you to try this chunky, white sneaker look with your next outfit… Pretty sure you’ll be hooked!

    Sneakers: Adidas Falcon in white

    Dress: Paloma Blue London

    Jeans: DL1961 (white)

    Jean shorts: Levi’s

    Jacket: Catherine Malandrino for Khol’s

    Tee: Free People

    Blouse: Something Navy

Earth Tones for Easter Weekend and Earth Day

Is it just me, or does Easter weekend call for pastel hues, nude heels, and that warm, spring weather?

That’s what I was thinking when I pictured my looks for our double date night on Saturday and church on Sunday, the perfect Easter weekend outfits. But when it’s a freezing 59 degrees and overcast, after an entire week of that sunny and 75, you’re sort of forced to break out your winter coat.

So, I did what any cool, laid back southern Cali girl would do.  I looked way back in my closet, at clothes I’ve had for a while, threw on my skinny jeans, hand-me-down jacket, and faux patent leather boots… slightly disappointed that it’s too cold for ruffles, florals, and dainty, strappy stilettos.

One of my favorite things about living in California is the level of casual that’s acceptable in style. My southern roots often resist the idea that jeans and tees can be dressed up. I’m slowly but surely adopting the lifestyle, and kinda loving the chic, effortlessness of classic cool.

Instead of buying something new to wear for Easter this year, and in honor of celebrating our overheated planet, I opted to save a little heat and do my small part to contribute to our Earth by rewearing some of my faves!

I couldn’t resist incorporating one pastel.  My lip color is Mary Kay’s NouriShine Plus lipgloss in Pink Parfait, and the Gel Semi-Shine lipstick in Naturally Buff.👄 💄

     I’m obsessed.  Outfit details below:

    Black Jeans and Jacket: Paige

    Boots: Zara

    Bag: Louis Vuitton

Hair: Ouai Wave spray and Aquage sea salt spray, also hot tools 1 1/2 inch barrel

    Sweater: Lux for Urban Outfitters

    Tank Top: Banana Republic

    White Jeans: dl1961 denim

    Happy Earth Day!

    Iris

    It’s a jungle out there!

We celebrated Oggy’s 4th birthday…and let me tell you friend, we WHOOPED IT UP just like an OG from the O.C!

This weekend was a double party for Oggy as he headed to his first preschool friend’s birthday party on Saturday, and celebrated his 4th birthday on Sunday at Scooter’s Jungle! This place was amazing for so many reasons! I don’t think it gets any better than giant bouncy slides, bouncy basketball, and bouncy EVERYTHING!

First of all, we had our own private bouncy room, which was the best because you didn’t have to worry about anything. Scooter’s Jungle designated an assistant to our room, who acted as the host or MC of the party! She also had the very important job of making the birthday kid feel super important and giving him extra attention as well as playing games with him, which Oggy was thrilled about.

Once we were all played out and ready for some party food, Marin, the assistant led everyone into the perfect party room, complete with balloons, pizzas, drinks, and music to set the tone for the end of the party!

If your in an area that has a Scooter’s Jungle, you absolutely must visit or have your next party here! We had such a great time that my hubby asked if they allow adult parties! Answer is yes!

    The Fun Box!

    Pooped

Last Friday, the kiddos and I went to The Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks, Ca. to check out @realfunbox, a kids pop-up museum.  It was such a blast! One mention of the life sized poop emoji to my three year old and that’s the only word we heard the rest of the weekend!

Did anyone ever see Pee Wee’s Playhouse as a kid and really want to go there (I did!)?  The Fun Box had some serious Pee Wee vibes with their upside down room and monkey emoji heads. Ogden was obsessed with the poop emoji, and the teddy bear tunnel where you first walk in.  The hanging rose room was my favorite so I had to get a shot of Livvy with her favorite new guy!

The museum ends with a giant bowl of lifesavers cereal, a heart made of teddy bears, and a hole that takes you to the next dimension.  It’s a must see before they close on Jan. 3.  Looking for our next adventure…

Hope you guys enjoy our pics!  Would love to know where you think we should go next! Comment below!!

    Olivia’s First Birthday!

Olivia is ONE!! How did a whole year go by so fast?!  No really?  Everyday since the day she was born I’ve been obsessed with her baby stages and she seemed so little next to her big brother that I almost forgot she’ll be growing up! This baby girl is so blessed to have the sweetest, most kindhearted big brother who is as funny as they come!  Olivia is by far a daddy’s girl, I don’t hear MAMA that often…which I’m fine with because all Ogden would ever say his first year was MAMA!  I love this little family of mine and now I’ll be sharing our journey in the blogosphere!  Hello blog world!!  I’ve been wanting to start one for a while, so here it is!  First birthday calls for a first post!

Be part of my tribe!  Leave me a comment! Looking forward to sharing with you!
